Dream Lover Trailer

Wow, double whammy. My daily routine is mostly going to my posterous which is generally a photo every few days. I'm going to get back into the swing of blogging, as I'm in total post production mode and actually have a few posts I could really elaborate on right now for the process. In the meantime, I've dropped another trailer. This one for Dream Lover.

Please watch with the sound up, the lights off, and in full screen!

Nice, pretty gripping shots and visually stunning but seems more like a teaser/montage than a trailer content-wise. Also hits me like a horror film... (if that's what you were going for)

thank you for checking it out! Yes, this film is a bit... experimental. It really takes watching the whole thing to convey what it's really about. It will be a scary ride.

...experimenting with a teaser/trailer/montage while in post-production - does it help you "find" the edit for your film or do you use fragments of the film that are "done"?

a bit of both. I wouldn't have done a trailer like this before now, simply because I had to get to know my film and know what kind of trailer would represent the actual film.

That being said, I started to employ techniques that are really bizarre in the hopes of really capturing dream like realities. These techniques aren't all that different from the time and reality bending kind of cutting and visual imagery that we're used to seeing in trailers. It just so happens that Dream Lover tries to maintain the pace and eye candy of a trailer for its entire runtime (wether it does or not, will be up to you, the audience, of course.)

So I suppose that in a way, it is both. I feel like when people see the film after seeing the trailer, they will be surprised at how the trailer preps them for the kind of film they are going to see, even with its pacing. Meanwhile, I'll be finishing up the cut, now knowing precisely what I've pitched to an audience in the trailer, and making sure I'm sticking to my guns.

Hey, I'm confused, is this a feature or short film?

Hey Lou! Dream Lover is a short film, my other film in the works, Solomon Grundy, is a feature.

Cool, thanks. This is "Leatherface" from the old movie forum, I lost the link to the site but recenty found it. I saw your post asking if anyone was alive so I responded. Perhaps we could revive it or it be just us.
