In hopes of being a better blogger, I've returned within the same week (and hope to continue to do so) over the next few weeks as things with production really ramp up. This week the cast (in its entirety, for the first time ever) had the opportunity to sit down, do another table read, then go through the entire script twice and block out the scenes.
For me, this was extremely valuable in showing the final details in what works, and what doesn't. While scenes absolutely are working- often times I'll find that very specific dialogue which looks good on the page, sounds terrible in reality. Having actors there and being able to rewrite on the spot to have them try alternate lines is great to figure out what makes sense, and what works.
Because of the nature of Dreams, Dream Lover has some interesting challenges for the actors. I have found in my own dreams, that characters will often change their "motivations" midway through the dream. Someone who starts off being extremely friendly will then take a sinister turn in surreal interactions. With this, in some way, each actor is playing multiple characters at the same time.
I'm glad to be starting to show off some of the behind the scenes work. Showing what's going on with the costumes, the makeup, the dancing, the music, the cameras, the sound, and how it all meets up for those few shooting days is a pretty unbelievable thing. More to come...

Another interesting thing about dreaming (at least for me) is the ability to switch perspective (POV) suddenly. My changing from someone being killed to someone doing the killing happens in a flash, and this seamless transition is confusing and exhausting.
all that work adding up is one of those things that allways blows my mind man...
so much goes into getting just a few seconds of footage...
its amazing when it works though....and yours is definitely working!!
